One of the most common questions we get from our guests planning a sea trip is: “When should I book the yacht?” Here’s what you need to know:
Motor and sailing yachts for short day trips:
The ideal time to start planning is about a month in advance during high season. There’s usually a good selection of yachts of similar quality, so there’s no need to worry about missing out.
Booking too early for short trips can actually backfire — prices for fuel and food (the main expenses on a day charter) might change closer to the date. This puts us in an awkward position: we can’t cover the base costs, and you’re understandably not happy about extra charges. That’s why booking 2–4 weeks ahead is usually the sweet spot — prices are already set and we can give you a fixed quote right away with no surprises later on.
Of course, we always try our best to arrange last-minute trips, even within the same week, but please note that the choice of available yachts becomes much more limited.
Gulets and yachts for weekly (or longer) charters:
Charter prices are usually set by December or early in the following year, and that’s when a wide range of yachts becomes available. Early bookings also come with the best deals — often with discounts of 15% or more.
Why? Because the charter price at this stage covers only the yacht rental and crew service (for sailing yachts, skipper, chef, and hostess are usually charged separately). Fuel and food are billed based on actual consumption, which means prices are stable and clearly laid out for the entire season, depending on demand.
Weekly charters are very popular, and most yachts are booked 6–9 months in advance — so the earlier you decide, the better your options will be!
A final note:
Whether you’re booking for a few hours or several days, a deposit is always required to confirm your reservation. This is a standard practice that gives both sides confidence and clarity in their plans.
